About the Office
The Town/Village Clerk has many
duties, but is first and foremost the main supplier of information to the
residents of the Town/Village of Harrison as well as the visitors.
The Town clerk is the secretary to the Town Board and is
responsible for taking the minutes at every Town Board meeting, which become the
official record of the actions of the Town Board. The town’s operation rests
upon the accuracy of these minutes as they are the authorization for the actions
of our employees. Once the minutes are written they are posted to the Town
Clerk’s website and filed in the Office the Town Clerk for historical
documentation.
The Town Clerk is also responsible
for a number of other jobs within the town such as issuing marriage, dog,
hunting and fishing licenses as well as parking and filming permits.
The Town Clerk is the elections officer for the
town and is responsible for holding local, state and federal elections and
getting residents registered to vote.
In Harrison, the Town Clerk
is responsible for advertising community events on CATV Channel 75 and for
running a tape of the current Town Board meeting at 12pm,
6pm
and 10pm daily.
The Harrison Town Clerk is the marriage officer for the town
and can perform marriage ceremonies anywhere within
Harrison. The clerk is also a notary public and will notarize
documents free of charge.
Town Clerk Joe Acocella firmly believes that his office must
give every resident of Harrison first class
service and he will always try to exceed your expectations. He is available to
make house calls by appointment to provide any of the above mentioned services
and will be happy to visit with your community group to discuss how his office
can better serve you.
Please continue to explore the website to see how the Office
of the Town Clerk can help you.
